Development With a Difference!

We know that you are always on the lookout for new ways of delivering development ideas and messages to your company. Our experience in Bespoke Events gives us an advantage. We can build a development programme around your company’s issue and deliver it in a way that is effective, interesting and fun.

The Approach

Our development approach focuses on the area of behavioural change. We believe that there can be no structural change without behavioural change. In order to effect change we use a series of tools to introduce participants to some new concepts and to reintroduce them to some old ones. We help participants to recognise the things that they already instinctively do well and also encourage them to practice new behaviours so that they can be learned and become intuitive.

The Development Tool Kit:

Whatever your challenge, whether it is communication, confidence or cultural change, let us help you to address the issue.

Not only will your people have an experience to remember but they will also be inspired to motivate themselves and others in the workplace and in their personal lives.

Our Development Team Includes:

  Beth Hayward

“I was very impressed with the programme, it was fresh and well targeted to our needs. The reaction from a bunch of initially cynical staff was very positive indeed. I have had nothing but excellent feedback and the event has already shown long term benefits. Really a great experience!”

The Development Tool Kit

We use a variety of different tools in order to deliver useful and entertaining programmes. If any of our innovative development ideas inspire you please call us to arrange a meeting. We will listen to your needs and then propose a development programme which best suits your objectives.

1. Forum Theatre
“ Play for Real”
This is a drama-based learning where actors present scenarios from a world similar enough to the participants’ world for them to have points of recognition but not so close as to make them uncomfortable or feel personally attacked. It also makes sure that they focus on the behaviours rather than getting bogged down in technical detail. From a safe, secure and objective standpoint delegates can explore the issues, observe good and bad practice and rehearse relevant behaviour.

2. Role Play
Using professional role players we give participants the opportunity to face difficult situations in a safe, non-judgemental environment. Role play is an ideal tool for dealing with issues around unacceptable behaviour, conflict management, customer facing, listening and questioning skills, coaching, delivering feedback and delivering difficult messages.

3. Facilitation & Training
Our experienced facilitators and trainers specialise in Communications & Presentation Skills, Creativity and Motivation. They take a creative physical and vocal approach to developing these and other skills and relish facing new challenges and opportunities. We offer companies tailor made workshops designed to meet all their communication needs.

4. Coaching
Presenting to more than a few can be a nightmare for many people. Underlying all presentation skills is our confidence.
• Confidence coaching – Learn to take control of your levels of confidence. Develop techniques to build up your boldness, find your own style and make more of it. Experience personal growth in a really supportive environment with people who can make a difference.
• Once your confidence has been increased your presentation skills can be honed. We can help you with that all important speech or presentation; Looking at the dynamics of body language, vocal support, dexterity, volume, pitch and resonance, will release you vocally to give new realms to your ability to talk with clarity, confidence and passion.
• Our professional writers will write/edit an address specifically designed for you and your event.

5. Motivational Team Challenge
Team building exercises are extremely useful but this event extends the concept and looks at the team as one part of an organisation and how it links in with all the other teams in order to create something greater than the sum of its parts. Using theatre as a metaphor this is a creative and challenging event which can be further adapted to emphasise the values/mission statement/ current priorities of your organisation.

6. Games
Games are the best way to learn because we retain information easier– ice breaker games, improvisation, theatre fun, building trust, physical games – Peter has been teaching acting and improvisation and confidence building at the Bristol Old Vic theatre school and lecturing at Bristol University for many years.

7. Practical exercises
Innovative interactive team building exercises nothing too strenuous but plenty of challenging ways to stretch the participants logically laterally and imaginatively.

8. Dancing
Discos can be divisive, a Ceilidh dance (yes similar to a barn dance but with a bit more character and class) with a dynamic band and experienced caller, who can motivate the dances without humiliating anyone, can create the best team build you will ever have.

9. Music
The Ceilidh band can also be a participative event incorporating any delegates with a modicum of musical ability into the music making. This can be especially powerful if senior management can end up making the music that the delegates dance to. This will get a group of people mixing and having fun in the most memorable way. Peter can provide a high class acapella (unaccompanied singing) group to enliven any function and set the climate for any corporate evening. From early music through to the classics, Jazz standards and pop arrangements - we can design a program to suit your tastes.

10. Fun
At the heart of everything we do is fun, without fun even the most fascinating development options can be a torment to those at the receiving end. We thoroughly believe that when people explore, through the idea of “play and playing”, in terms of games but also in terms of theatre, that people learn more. When we have fun we try to remember what we did. When we don’t have fun we try to forget about it.
